Cancellation Severe Thunderstorm Warning

for Mid North Coast, North West Slopes and Plains and Northern Tablelands Forecast Districts.

Issued at 6:20 am Wednesday, 19 February 2020.

cancellation severe thunderstorm warning for the following areas:
Mid North Coast, North West Slopes and Plains and Northern Tablelands
Severe thunderstorms are no longer occurring in NSW and the ACT.
The immediate threat of severe thunderstorms has passed, but the situation will continue to be monitored and further warnings will be issued if necessary.
2.8cm diameter hail reported at Tuncurry at 3:45am
59mm at Coonabarabran in the 120min to 2:00am
Destructive winds near Gilgandra resulting in major property damage around 11:30pm
111 km/h gust at North Head 11:00pm
104 km/h wind gust at Fort Denison at 10:45pm
102 km/h wind gust recorded at Richmond Airport at 10:20pm
91 km/h wind gust recorded Nowra Airport at 8:40pm
49.6mm of rain in 60min at Nowra Airport to 9:00pm
27.4mm of rain in 30min at Orange (Agricultural institute) to 8:45pm
Reports of large to giant hail near Mittagong and Wollongong around 8pm.

The State Emergency Service advises that people should:
* Keep clear of fallen power lines.
* Keep clear of creeks and storm drains.
* Don't walk, ride your bike or drive through flood water.
* Stay vigilant and monitor conditions. Note that the landscape may have changed following bushfires.
* For emergency help in floods and storms, ring the SES (NSW and ACT) on 132 500.

No further warnings will be issued for this event.
