Flood Warning For The Diamantina River
Issued at 10:25 AM EST on Thursday 20 February 2020

River levels are expected to fall below the level of the Springvale Diamantina Lakes Road Causeway over the next few days. Flood waters reached Birdsville earlier in the week, with river levels continuing to very slowly rise.
No significant rainfall is expected over the next few days.

Diamantina River to Diamantina Lakes:
River levels at Diamantina Lakes continue to fall slowly, where at 9am Thursday the river level was about 0.26 metres above the level of the Springvale Diamantina Lakes Road Causeway.
Diamantina River downstream of Diamantina Lakes:
Flood waters continue to slowly arrive downstream at Monkira, where at 7:30am Thursday the river level was 0.22 metres above the level of the causeway.
No observations are available for Birdsville manual gauge, however the DEWNR automatic gauge shows flood waters have now reached the Birdsville area (below minor) and rising very slowly.
The Diamantina River at Birdsville is likely to remain below the minor flood level (4.00 m) during the weekend as flood waters continue to arrive.
